Frequently Asked Questions

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Joining a CSA is like investing in a farm.

How does it work?

Prior to the growing season, you purchase a membership or ‘share’ in the farmer’s crop. This allows the farmer to buy seeds and supplies to grow the produce. Once the crop is ready for harvesting you begin receiving a regularly scheduled bundle of farm-fresh produce.

What does that look like?

Our Summer CSA runs for 12 weeks, beginning in the middle of July through to September (Fall CSA runs after that for 8 weeks). Members collect their bundle of goods each week from a central pickup location. Each bundle contains a generous selection of seasonal produce items. Vegetables are delivered directly to their weekly pickup locations within 24-48 hours of being picked. They are washed, chilled, and ready to rinse and eat.

What are Add-ons?

In addition to vegetables, we offer add-ons of local, free range Beef, Chicken, Pork, Eggs, and Honey (and more!) for our 12-week Summer CSA. If you would like any of these items included with your subscription, simply add to cart.

What if I can’t pick up my order on a pickup day?

You may designate an alternate person to pick up your share for the weeks that you can’t make it or are on holidays, or you can opt to donate it! Unclaimed shares are donated to local families in need or distributed in other ways.

What kind of vegetables can I expect?

Each bundle contains a few regular staple items— such as carrots, potatoes, and a leafy green— with the rest of the items varying from week to week. We grow over 50 different types of vegetables here on the farm, giving you a wide selection of delicious produce to enjoy throughout the season— possibly some new items you may never have tried before!

Some of the items typically included are:

Carrots, potatoes, beets, lettuce, green onions, zucchini, summer squash, cabbage, kale, Swiss chard, tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, onions, garlic, leeks, beans, kohlrabi, microgreens, fresh herbs, and more!

Can I choose the items in my veggie box?

No, we (the farmer) select box items based on what is ripe and ready in the garden each week. You will receive a wonderful variety in each box throughout the season. You may even discover a new favourite!

What are my payment options?

We accept PayPal at checkout, or you can opt to pay via cheque or etransfer (simply select the 'paper check' option at checkout and follow the instructions).

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes! Payment can be made in up to 6 instalments, providing amount is paid in full by June 30 (2 weeks prior to CSA start).

Information about cheque or etransfer payments are included at checkout.
